Testing the waters - Tinted Moisturizer vs BB Cream vs Foundation

I've been hearing a lot about BB Cream recently. Some gurus on youtube have been raving about it. Based on their reviews I decided to order it online. I just got it in today, and I thought I'd show you my first reactions. (I already have YSL Teint Resist on)
Based on what I've been hearing BB Cream is suppose to have more coverage than a tinted moisturizer and less than a foundation. I have to disagree.

MAC Studio Moisture Tint in Light, Skin 79 Super+ BB Cream, Make Up Forever HD Foundation in 110

MAC Moisture Tint in Light

Skin 79 Super+ BB Cream

Make Up Forever HD Foundation in 110

Here are the different foundations in order of their supposed coverage.
(MAC, BB Cream, MUFE)

Here are the color swatched, but not blended (obviously)
They're in the same order as the picture above (MAC, BB Cream, Make Up Forever)

The BB Cream is thicker than the foundation. I was pretty surprised. I had expected it to be thinner. It's not that I won't use it, just not the way I was planning. Something else I should mention is, at least this brand, BB Cream has only one shade, which is the one above. I guess this isn't all that surprising because it is an Asian product and their skin is normally fair to medium. Still I would like them to have a little more diversity in their colors.
Overall, I'm undecided on this product. Whether this matches my skin is still unknown, but I'll let you know.

On a random note, I have some exciting news! (At least for me!) I ordered a UD Naked Palette yesterday! Sephora emailed me to let me know they were back in stock and I literally jumped at the chance. I've been on the lookout for one since August (sad I know).

Have a Great Day!!!

  1. they all look good, but maybe i would go with the tinted moisturizer because i'm very into tinted moisturizers right now.

  2. I find BB creams a little thick too - & slightly grey/dead looking on my skintone. They're very hit & miss!

  3. yay for naked palette, your going to LOVE it!!!!
and i'm using the bb cream now, and i'm asian, so it's not bad coverage. but i think its pretty versatile and blends out pretty good. and the lasting power is awesome! maybe try mixing it with a foundation of yours?

  4. Yeah the BB cream matches my skin well, though it doesn't blend well, but I make it work :)
